Elena M. Jimenez, MD, is a 1998-graduate of the University of Puerto Rico School of Medicine from San Juan, Puerto Rico. Her postgraduate training includes her ophthalmology residency served at the University of Puerto Rico (1998-2002). Dr. Jimenez attained board certification in ophthalmology with the American Board of Ophthalmology. She is a member of the Patient Education Committee of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and President of the Puerto Rico Ophthalmic Society. Moreover, she is the recipient of the Doctors Choice Award (2015-2020) and the Secretariat Award given by the American Academy of Ophthalmology for her volunteer work with the Loaíza Cordero Institute for Blind Children. 35% of Dr. Jimenez’s surgical cases are referrals from other medical doctors, some of which no longer perform surgery.
